Who are the tutors teaching my child?
I am the sole tutor teaching every single student. I will personally oversee all my students' progress.
As a student who have achieved stellar academic results, I am a MOE Teaching Scholar who graduated from NUS with a Bachelor of Science (1st class honours). I know how to help your child get that A, having done it myself :)
I have over 10 years of experience teaching Pure/IP Chemistry. You may view the testimonials from past students / parents on the website. I do not solicit for any testimonials. These are the best evidence that students enjoy my teaching for its clarity, and clarity in turn makes learning fun and interesting!

How are the lessons conducted
My philosophy is to be detailed, detailed and super detailed in my teaching (yet confined within the scope of the O level syllabus). I leave no stones unturn, and aim to build within my students, a very strong foundational understanding of what they are learning. I truly believe that a firm understanding goes a very long way in helping them cope with the demands of the subject.
My lessons are structured in a logical and coherent manner, where basic overarching concepts are first introduced to students. Thereafter, branches of more complex but related concepts are added to build upon previous concepts. In between concepts, ample amount of practice questions will be provided - in varying forms and arranged in increasing level of difficulty - to ensure that students fully understand each concept before we move on.
I will review each question with my students, dissecting each questions and learning how to provide the highest quality answers through emphasis on key words and phrases that examiners are looking out for. It is important for students to receive immediate and clear feedback after each question. Only then, will they be able to learn from their mistakes and improve.
I will do a summary at the end of each lesson to consolidate key learning points and to highlight important aspects of the lesson. I do also start lessons with a recap, to ensure students recall what was taught last lesson, and to help create a seamless transition between lessons. This is especially helpful as some students may be learning a different topic in school, and may not done the topic for a week.
My classes are interactive, and I ask a lot of questions in class. My rationale is twofold. Firstly, it allows me to ascertain if a student understands what is being taught (I cannot read their mind!). Secondly, it also provides an opportunity for my student to actively think and verbalize their answers out loud, forcing them to learn in an active manner. Of course, my questions are directed appropriately to students to ensure that they are able to answer the question. It is not meant to make life difficult for them! :) Students really appreciate this.
Students are encouraged to stay back after lesson, to clarify any doubts they may have. I strongly discourage students to let their doubts accumulate and to "figure it out at home".

WHY ARE THE LESSONS LONGER THAN OTHER CENTRES?
Having taught for many years, I realize that 2hr 15mins is the optimal duration to ensure maximum learning in an efficient yet not draining manner. Due to the heavy content load of Pure Chemistry, and the comprehensive nature of all my lessons (I teach in a lot more detail than most schools would) (See previous question on how are the lessons conducted), it would be insufficient to cover all aspects of the topic within 2 hours.
My lessons are filled with important and relevant information, packaged within a dense and power packed 2 hour 15min session. I want to maximize the value I provide to all my students. I want them to study in the most efficient manner possible, to leave each class, feeling full of knowledge and confidence!
Most centres charge the same amount as me, while only providing 1 hour 30mins - 2 hours of lesson.
I personally feel that it is impossible to deliver the same quality and quantity of content in that short span.

Are the teaching resources good?
I take great pride in the resource that I provide to my students. Every single piece of worksheet is designed from the ground up and with a purposeful intent in mind - to test a particular objective. My materials are referenced from multiple different sources from top school to top tuition centre materials. I glean out the best of different sources, add in my own elements, and reorder them in a manner that I feel is the most systematic and productive way to learn Chemistry.
In addition, I have selectively compiled questions from the different schools exam papers, and sorted them into topics. Within each topics, the questions are further segregated into sub-topics and arranged in increasing level of difficulty. No tuition centres or schools does it this way, as it requires a very profound understanding of not just the content, but also the curriculum.
The answer key I provide to my students are taken referenced from the O level examiners report. Students will be taught exactly how to answer questions to obtain maximum points. Being an Ex-MOE teacher in charge of curriculum has given me this knowledge and advantage.
I also provide Full HD Colour laminated summary sheets for major topics. Each summary sheet is filled with valuable information to help students review and revise for each topic.

What other perks does a student get?
I understand that it is impossible to learn everything within 2 hours 15 minutes, and that much of learning takes place outside of the classroom. I also believe that every student learns and assimilate knowledge at a different pace. So it is my assurance to all my students, that I will be there to clarify their doubts whenever they need help.
Help is just 1 message away!! :)
Students can arrange for Whatsapp or zoom consultation at NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE. I particularly enjoy students who proactively arrange for consultations with me and take ownership of their own learning.
In addition, all lessons are recorded, and will be made available to students via the student portal. Students can rewatch the lesson till at the comfort of their own home.
Lastly, I also provide Free Summative Lessons at the end of each month to summarize the topic learnt for that month, and to clarify any doubts from students, regarding the topic. Some centres charge for this Summative lesson. But I provide it free of charge.
I do my utmost to be there for my students and aspire to provide the greatest value to them.

Do you teach iP chemistry?
Yes I do. In fact, my materials are actually geared towards IP standard. Having taught many IP students before, I am intimately familiar with the slightly nuanced aspects of the IP syllabus compared to the O levels. With the exception of NJC and NUS High, all other IP schools cover the same content as the O levels. The only difference would be the addition of concepts like orbital theory (Atomic structure), Ionization energy trends (Periodicity) and a few other minor A level concepts. [These concepts will be taught as an advance content, in a few additional lessons for IP students]
What is most prominent, would be that - while the concepts and learning objectives mirror the O level syllabus - the questions are significantly more "integrated" and thus "harder". The IP schools set questions that integrate multiple - sometimes seemingly disparate - topics together, thus forming "integrated" questions.
Hence my lesson material and delivery is always primed towards solid foundational understanding. That way, integrated questions will not be a problem. O level students will also benefit from the more rigorous teachings and practice questions .
